Definitely going to watch this about fifteen times over the next month.
Spent the last 2 hours looking for studies to write about in my Psych paper and think I’m gonna run with this one.
How is this band not famous?
This just came out today - it’s an ACDC box set packaged inside a working guitar amp. Holy rock balls. I would have totally asked for this for Christmas eight years ago. Still might.
Check out these webisodes the Avett Brothers put up on their site to promote the new album- which if you haven’t heard yet you REALLY should. http://www.theavettbrothers.com/countdown
Ciao My Shining Star is the best compilation I’ve heard in a while. It’s a benefit album to support Mark Mulcahy’s children following the unexpected loss of his wife. Mulcahy was the lead singer for a couple late 80s/early 90s bands (including Polaris from Pete and Pete!) and the compilation is made up entirely of his songs reworked by some pretty impressive artists (Thom Yorke, Frank Black, Michael Stipe, The National……..and so on. Seriously.) Some of the songs are really sad, especially considering the circumstances, but overall there’s a great quirkiness to these songs. Almost They Might Be Giants-ish.. but more likely to tug at the ol’ heartstrangs.
